When did you start your journey with Samay Innovation?

I founded Samay Innovation in January 2015 and have been the principal interior designer since then.

Can you describe your entrepreneurial journey?

The journey has been a roller coaster ride filled with valuable lessons. I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and continue to learn as I go. I embarked on this path due to my inherent passion for design. Despite initial pressures and misconceptions, I pursued my desire. After completing my bachelors in industrial polymer chemistry and a master’s in interior design, I took my first step into the industry. I owe my success to the first client who trusted me, which opened new horizons in my career. This led to a chain reaction of projects, including a significant breakthrough with two projects in Surat and Bombay.

Apart from Ahmedabad, In which cities/Countries does your work extend?

Our projects span India and worldwide, reaching cities like Toronto, Oman, Jordan, Germany, Abu Dhabi, and Mexico.

What’s the process of building an interior design team like?

Constructing a team of interior designers is an exhilarating process that exposes me to diverse individuals and perspectives. The challenge lies in synergizing their talents to achieve the best outcomes.

Name the top key elements in your design approach.

The core elements include:

  • Thoughtful space planning
  • Incorporating multifunctionality in furniture design
  • Deep understanding of the client’s vision
  • Skillful lighting design
  •

Could you reflect on any past mistakes or challenges you faced?

Well, one crucial lesson was placing trust in the wrong individuals. I’ve realized that people differ, and assuming their intentions mirror mine was a mistake. Learning to read people has been a vital takeaway.

What actions did you take when realizing someone wasn’t the right fit?

I’ve implemented meticulous approval processes to mitigate such situations, ensuring client designs are seamless and transparent. The client is aware of the process, and the next steps are clarified. Automation through software further streamlines the process.
